Results achieved so far

Valdres Folkehøgskole is part of the folk high school's sustainability initiative and supports the goals in the Sustainability Decision. The school reports its own greenhouse gas emissions using a folk high school-adapted climate and environmental report from the Miljøfyrtårn Foundation, developed in collaboration with Vestlandsforskning. The goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions every year, so that we reach the goal of becoming a zero-emission school by 2030.
By 2030, build the resilience of the poor and people in vulnerable situations, making them less exposed to and less vulnerable to climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental stresses and disasters.

By 2030, ensure that all pupils and students acquire the competences necessary to promote sustainable development, including through education in sustainable development and lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and culture's contribution to sustainable development.

By 2030, significantly increase the share of renewable energy in the world's total energy consumption.
From the UN's Sustainable Development Goal No. 7.
By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and transform business to become more sustainable, with more efficient use of resources and more widespread use of clean and environmentally friendly technologies. Facilitate sustainable development of infrastructure in developing countries by increasing financial, technological and technical assistance to African countries.
UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 9
By 2030, reduce the negative environmental impact of cities and local communities (measured per capita), with particular emphasis on air quality and public or private waste management.
UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 11.
By 2030, halve food waste per capita worldwide, both in retail and among consumers.
By 2030, significantly reduce the amount of waste through prevention, reduction, material recycling and reuse.
By 2030, ensure that all people worldwide have relevant information about and understanding of sustainable development and a way of life that is in harmony with nature.
UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 12
Strengthen the ability of individuals and institutions to counteract, adapt to and reduce the consequences of climate change and their ability for early warning, as well as strengthen knowledge and awareness about this.
