Valuable

-The folk high school allows people to experience that they are good enough as they are and that they can rest in a sense of acceptance. At the same time, it challenges and develops people. The balance and interaction between these two makes the folk high school a unique learning environment and a good place to be.

-At folk high school I experience that I can be exactly who I am. There are no requirements about how I should be, no requirements for good performance and no requirements that I should master things. The only thing required is that I am present with all of me. I am here, I am me and that is good enough.

-Fundamentally, there is the certainty that I am good enough just the way I am. With that as a starting point, I am challenged in many ways. To step outside my comfort zone. To do things I can't. I am pushed to do things like challenge my fear of water in a kayak, lead a gathering, perform on stage and to talk honestly and openly about my life - to name a few. I am also challenged in how I think in different life situations, how I act when meeting people and what values I have. I am challenged to do new things, change my behavior and thought patterns, face my fears and think through what I stand for. Not because I am not good enough as I am, but precisely because I am seen as who I am. Valuable. The whole of me is taken seriously. Personal and academic levels blend into each other and are equally important. The teachers care about me. That's why they push me, so that I can experience as much as possible of the exciting things that life has to offer. This way I can experience that I can bring out the resources that live within me and use them to bring joy to myself and the people around me.
