Security - Insurance

Insurance through the school

We experience that many people experience uncertainty regarding what insurance they must/should have. All students must have travel insurance, check if you are covered through your parents' insurance. Students who have extreme sports activities must check if these activities are included. For example. activities such as: mountain hikes above 4,000 m, bungee jumping, skydiving, paragliding (students on the paraline are covered through the school), diving, horseback riding, river kayaking, rafting, etc.

To be safe, the school has taken out a customized collective travel insurance for our Norwegian students that covers travel, extreme sports and accidents. This applies to all trips under the auspices of the school worldwide. It covers medical assistance via mobile/satellite phone and advice from a security company in the event of a crisis. The insurance is activated after the first night of accommodation. We can offer you this insurance for NOK 1200,-, and we have found that this has better coverage and is significantly less expensive compared to equivalent private insurance.

The travel insurance can be downloaded here:

However, the school's travel, accident and extreme sports insurance does not apply when traveling to/from school, during leisure time or on vacation. If you want coverage for this, we recommend that you take out separate travel insurance for this purpose.

The school has its own accident insurance for all students. You can consider other insurances such as contents and group life if they are desirable for you.

Illness on foreign and domestic trips

If you as a student cannot attend trips due to illness/injury, you must obtain a medical certificate. The insurance company requires this in order to be able to reimburse costs in this regard. This also applies if you do not attend parts of the trip offer. As a rule, all school programs are pre-arranged/paid for and the school does not receive a refund if fewer than agreed or no students attend.

Vaccines and passports

You must contact your medical center/vaccination office/regular doctor and possibly check fhi.no about which vaccines you need for the various trips abroad. On our website you can see which countries your line is traveling to. This provides the basis for which vaccines you need. Vaccination must take place well in advance of departure.

You must have a passport to enter various countries. This must be valid for 6 months after the end of your trip.

On some study trips, an updated corona passport is required upon entry to the country. You are responsible for ensuring that your corona passport is updated.
