New Zealand is the perfect destination for x-sports! The country is a world-renowned destination for extreme sports and offers unique activity experiences. Among other things, we will go skydiving, bungee jumping, surfing and rafting on this trip. Rafting on the Kaituna River with a waterfall drop in Tutea Falls, the largest commercial waterfall in the world! Nature experiences are spectacular. We will hike Mount Ngauruhoe, better known from The Lord of the Rings as Mt. Doom. Because New Zealand is known for the filming of several films, including The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. If you are a fan of those films, you will have the opportunity to visit the Hobbiton movie set on this trip.
New Zealand has a strong cultural history. The country's indigenous people are the Maori. They are widespread and are a proud part of New Zealand's origins and culture. We will visit a Maori tribe and get to know them and their culture better. Perhaps you have seen the famous dance, the haka? You will learn it.
Vanlife and backpacking have long been popular in New Zealand. We have our own cars, and drive around the island and take part in the backpacker culture. We stay in hostels and meet people from all over the world who are in New Zealand for the same reasons as us. Precisely to visit a fantastic country for extreme sports, nature and culture! Alps - Austria - Schladming
Valdres Folk High School has unique study trips. One of them is the trip to Austria and the Czech Republic. This trip goes together with several classes at the school. Together we get on the bus and drive down to Austria!
In Austria we stay at the Taurnhof. It is located in the middle of the ski resort of Schladming, 20 meters from the gondola. Lace up your boots, stroll across the street and take the gondola up to over 1500 meters in altitude. The Tauernhof has ski and snowboard instructors from several places in the world. They live with us throughout your stay. These instructors have local knowledge that gives you the opportunity to explore hidden gems and secret spots where the powder skiing is absolutely magical.
Experience the pure joy of hurtling down snowy mountain slopes, powder skiing and moments of pure joy. On this trip you will quickly develop your skiing skills while creating memories together with the rest of your good friends.
After a day of skiing, a delicious dinner awaits, followed by an evening gathering filled with laughter and fellowship where you can share stories and experiences from the day. For many, this is a highlight of the day.
But eventually the journey must continue – we travel to Prague in the Czech Republic. We look forward to exploring the city's streets, architecture and culture. In good company we look around the city and relax after several days of skiing.

This is the line for you if you want to spend the year doing as many different activities as possible. Both autumn, winter and spring are packed with different activities that suit their season. You will definitely do many things that you have never done before!

Our focus is that you will have great nature experiences together with your classmates. This line allows you to experience the mystery and magic of the mountains. Sunset from the mountaintop, starry skies, untouched powder, rushing rivers! What could be better than making your dream come true?
Is this line right for you?
Although we will be doing many new and extreme activities, you do not need to have any prior experience with any of them. All we want from you is that you have a desire to try something new, and push your limits, within your abilities. We focus on good experiences, and make it easy for you to feel joy and mastery.

My name is Kjetil and I am a line teacher at X-Sports. Here, the focus is on two things: good and fun experiences with classmates, and the development of skills.
I am an associate professor with additional education with a bachelor's degree in sports and outdoor activities, practical-pedagogical education and religious studies. Many courses in avalanche science, climbing and skiing.

How to finance your school year?
Some people think that folk high schools are expensive, but it is significantly cheaper to live in a boarding house at a folk high school than to live in a dormitory and pay for your own food. See the calculation example below:
