Zanzibar / Denmark / Alps
Zanzibar:
Imagine white beaches, turquoise seas, palm trees, beach cafes and 30 degrees Celsius. Is there any better place to go kitesurfing?
Have you heard of Zanzibar? Yes? But do you know where it is? Zanzibar is an island off the coast of Tanzania. Located in the very east of Africa. Zanzibar is world-famous for its idyllic beaches, good food and drink and a rich cultural life. But not least, they are known for good kite conditions! We will hang out on the beach, kite as much as we can. In addition to kite surfing, we will do many other things. There will be snorkeling, parasailing, shopping and much more.
We are also going to mainland Tanzania. There we will visit the school's aid project, in the city of Lushoto. There we will have many meetings with people, cultural meetings and see how our school contributes to the people of Lushoto. On the mainland we will also visit other villages, go on safari, see Kilimanjaro, swim in hot springs and taste lots of good local food. This is a unique experience that you cannot get anywhere else than through the journey with us.
Austria:
Valdres Folk High School has unique study trips. One of them is the trip to Austria and the Czech Republic. This trip goes together with several classes at the school. Together we get on the bus and drive down to Austria!
In Austria we stay at the Taurnhof. It is located in the middle of the ski resort of Schladming, 20 meters from the gondola. Lace up your boots, stroll across the street and take the gondola up to over 1500 meters in altitude. The Tauernhof has ski and snowboard instructors from several places in the world. They live with us throughout your stay. These instructors have local knowledge that gives you the opportunity to explore hidden gems and secret spots where the powder skiing is absolutely magical.
Experience the pure joy of hurtling down snowy mountain slopes, powder skiing and moments of pure joy. On this trip you will quickly develop your skiing skills while creating memories together with the rest of your good friends.
After a day of skiing, a delicious dinner awaits, followed by an evening gathering filled with laughter and fellowship where you can share stories and experiences from the day. For many, this is a highlight of the day.
But eventually the journey must continue – we travel to Prague in the Czech Republic. We look forward to exploring the city's streets, architecture and culture. In good company we look around the city and relax after several days of skiing.

Denmark:
The first trip is to Denmark to learn to kite. Hvide Sande, the west coast of Denmark, is known for its good kite conditions. A perfect place to learn to kite. There we live by the beach, cook together and spend our days kitesurfing, swimming, shopping and getting to know each other better. If you are excited, you can also surf or do a morning yoga session.
Many possibilities
This line gives you the opportunity to do a lot of one activity, as well as try many other activities. Everything from kiting, mountaineering, cycling and river kayaking in Norway to safari, skydiving, swimming and snorkeling in Tanzania. We will also enjoy ourselves outside in nature with a campfire, and experience the peace of nature.
Both on water and snow
We will be kitesurfing both on water and on snow. In Norway we will be kitesurfing with skis or boards on the snow, and then we will try kitesurfing with wakeboards on water in both Denmark and Zanzibar.
There will be day trips and overnight trips with kite! Jotunheimen and Hardangervidda, which are close to us, give us many opportunities!

How to finance your school year?
Some people think that folk high schools are expensive, but it is significantly cheaper to live in a boarding house at a folk high school than to live in a dormitory and pay for your own food. See the calculation example below:
