Golf - surf - ski is a versatile sports line, with golf and skiing as the main activities. Played a lot of golf? Skied a lot? Or are you just the type who thinks it's exciting to try several new sports activities? We plan for both experienced and beginners to develop in various sports arenas. In addition to golf and skiing, you will be able to try many other activities. In the winter we travel to South Africa, on a road trip that includes both golf, surf and much more.

We are traveling to
Roadtrip South Africa - Together we will travel in South Africa and explore this amazing part of Africa. The school has its own partner/bus company that will take us around. It will be everything from Nelson Mandela's Africa - meeting local youth through the YMCA - helping other youth in a difficult everyday life. And of course get access to selected great golf courses, surf on the southernmost African coastline and experience a variety of sports activities!
Alps - Austria - Schladming
Valdres Folk High School has unique study trips. One of them is the trip to Austria and the Czech Republic. This trip goes together with several classes at the school. Together we get on the bus and drive down to Austria!
In Austria we stay at the Taurnhof. It is located in the middle of the ski resort of Schladming, 20 meters from the gondola. Lace up your boots, stroll across the street and take the gondola up to over 1500 meters in altitude. The Tauernhof has ski and snowboard instructors from several places in the world. They live with us throughout your stay. These instructors have local knowledge that gives you the opportunity to explore hidden gems and secret spots where the powder skiing is absolutely magical.
Experience the pure joy of hurtling down snowy mountain slopes, powder skiing and moments of pure joy. On this trip you will quickly develop your skiing skills while creating memories together with the rest of your good friends.
After a day of skiing, a delicious dinner awaits, followed by an evening gathering filled with laughter and fellowship where you can share stories and experiences from the day. For many, this is a highlight of the day.
But eventually the journey must continue – we travel to Prague in the Czech Republic. We look forward to exploring the city's streets, architecture and culture. In good company we look around the city and relax after several days of skiing.

Skiing and kitesurfing
The winter in Valdres is fantastic! When the snow lies like a white blanket, we find TwinTip, snowboarding, Randonneski and alpine skiing. Valdres Alpine Center is only 10km away from the school and invites you to play, jibbing, gate driving and more. Hemsedal and Tyin/Filefjell are also only an hour's drive away from the school, and are obvious places to visit for anyone who loves to ski . If we are not on the slopes, we go on ski tours, both prepared cross-country trails and untouched mountain ranges. Kiting on snow is also one of the winter activities. We travel on summit trips where we seek out virgin powder. You will learn about avalanches and safe travel in the winter mountains, and gain avalanche competence for safe skiing in the mountains.
Surfing and sports
The autumn period will offer a lot of golf until the snow puts an end to it, and the winter offers a lot of skiing - but in between we also have time for several other activities: Surfing, rafting, climbing, mountain biking, sand volleyball . Beyond the autumn and winter there will also be ball games ; volleyball, basketball, football, ultimate. In addition, we have sessions where we train fitness and strength. In Jotunheimen we will also climb some of Norway's highest mountain peaks - both summer and winter.
Golf
Valdres has one of Norway's finest golf courses! Valdres Golf Club is the school's partner. This will be our classroom during the autumn term. Here we will work on the basics of the game of golf, rules and etiquette. Beginners get a chance to learn the game, while experienced players get the opportunity to develop their game. We have training sessions with our own pro (professional golf coach from the Golf Association), where we work on technique, personal development and tactics. We will also go out and visit other courses in Norway. After a long and good winter with fantastic skiing days, spring is finally here. Then we will go out again in search of freshly cut grass.

I am Sigbjørn and I am a line teacher for Golf Ski Surf. On this line we create a good environment where everyone can be exactly who they are, as a person and an athlete. Together we will create the best year of your life!
I am an assistant professor, bachelor in sports, and I have one year of sports, culture and development cooperation with CHRISC and the Norwegian School of Sports and Recreation.

How to finance your school year?
Some people think that folk high schools are expensive, but it is significantly cheaper to live in a boarding house at a folk high school than to live in a dormitory and pay for your own food. See the calculation example below:
