You put one foot in front of the other, focus on breathing well and when you look up you see the sun rising and it is so incredibly beautiful. You also feel the excitement as you approach the summit of the 5895 meter high Kilimanjaro. The world's highest freestanding mountain! This amazing climb takes place together with local guides and porters who help us get equipment, prepare food and make sure we have a good time. Being on a trip with a big group and with good friends creates an indescribably good feeling. The daily stages are not so long, which allows us to acclimatize even better and thus increase the chances of reaching the summit.
After a magical and special experience in the mountains, we go on a Safari in the animal-rich Tangerie National Park. A great way to relax after experiencing this intense mountain adventure. It's also nice to see more of this amazing country!
During your weeks in Tanzania, you will experience a little bit of everything. It is a different world. Everything from the giraffes standing and chewing on the savannah, to the market in the city where everything from fish to detergent is sold in bulk. There are a hundred thousand new impressions, and in the midst of all the new things, you will meet an open and welcoming people who always have plenty of time.

Through wind, rain and sunshine, the class finds strength in each other, sharing both the laughter around the campfire and the silence of the magnificent nature.
Autumn is filled with a myriad of different activities. You can climb the sharp peaks of Jotunheimen, go sea kayaking in the steep and dramatic Nærøyfjord, and experience the adventure ice on Svellnosbreen. Norway's highest mountain, Galdhøpiggen, gives you spectacular views! Feel the adrenaline rushing in time with the river on rafting in Sjoa, and experience mastery when you climb one of the rock walls near the school. Most trips are combined with camping, and when the weather is at its best we sleep under the stars after an evening around the campfire.

I'm Marte and I'm a line teacher for Friluftsliv Adventure. Do you dream of evenings around the campfire, great nature experiences in the Norwegian wilderness, and rock climbing in Jotunheimen with new hiking companions? We will give you experiences that will equip you for a life in close contact with nature together with others.
I have a bachelor's degree in Outdoor Life from Sogn og Fjordane University College, and a one-year degree in science. I have been a student and a fellow at Hallingdal Folk High School.

How to finance your school year?
Some people think that folk high schools are expensive, but it is significantly cheaper to live in a boarding house at a folk high school than to live in a dormitory and pay for your own food. See the calculation example below:
