Costa Rica
Costa Rica is an eldorado for exotic outdoor activities and you will get to explore it! Despite not being a very large country, Costa Rica has a rich biodiversity of both plants and animals. We will explore rainforests, national parks, the ocean and several cities. The country is well developed in tourism, but with a focus on genuine encounters with both nature and culture. We will experience this through lots of different activities such as the highest bungee jump in Costa Rica, with a free fall of 143 meters (470 feet) over the Cloud Forest. This jump is known for its scenic location and intense adrenaline rush.
Zip-line through the rainforest, rafting on the Sarapiqui River, diving with sharks in the Pacific Ocean, tandem paragliding over chalk-white beaches and surfing in the Caribbean Sea.
We will encounter a culture that offers something completely different from what we are used to. We will stay with locals who will show us how they prepare local dishes, sway their hips to Spanish songs and how they use the cocoa fruit to make delicious chocolate.
We will experience "Pura Vida" in practice, which is an expression that locals use a lot and which means "pure life."
As a contrast to all the nature and countryside, we will also visit San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. Here we will experience city life and learn even more about the history of this exciting country!
Look forward to a study trip that will be unique and unforgettable with a mix of culture, nature experiences, sports, history and meetings with people.

I'm Eira and I'm a teacher at Exotic Outdoor Activities. On this course you can come just as you are, and over the course of a year we will explore different forms of exotic outdoor activities together.
I have five years of college education. Bachelor's degree in outdoor activities, one-year study in geography and practical-pedagogical education.

How to finance your school year?
Some people think that folk high schools are expensive, but it is significantly cheaper to live in a boarding house at a folk high school than to live in a dormitory and pay for your own food. See the calculation example below:
